Background

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-Habitat, is the agency for human settlements. It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all.

The UN-Habitat Digital and Marketing internship is for 3 months with a possibility for extension depending on the needs of the Organization.

The Internship is UNPAID and full-time.

Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.

Responsibilities

Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background; the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period.

Under the direct supervision of the Officer-in-Charge, Donor Relations & Income Management the intern will:

- Carry out research on how LinkedIn can be used for supporting fund raising efforts. This includes, finding relevant donor contacts and establishing communication with those donors.
- Assist in monitoring the launch of Phase II of the Donor Information System which entails updating the donor calendar by checking donor agreements and updating the report due dates onto the system as well as updating donor contact information.
- Assist in regularly updating the Donor Information System of the organization by researching and analyzing information gathered from diverse sources, with a focus on donor policies, priorities and funding trends.
- Assist in uploading donor profiles and other donor information into UN-Habitat Donor Information System.
- Assist in monitoring upcoming opportunities on the Devex platform and send relevant proposals to donor relations and income management team.
- Perform other duties as required within the scope of his/her substantive qualifications.

Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent).
c. Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.

Be computer literate in standard software applications.

Have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.

Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Preferred Areas of Studies:
Finance and Accounts.

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another UN Language is desirable.
